The
European Group of the International Federation of Actors (EuroFIA)
condemns the decision by Generalitat Valenciana to shut down public
channel RTVV
EuroFIA
gathers professional performers' trade unions, guilds and
associations of 30 different countries, among which 25 are members of
the European Union. It speaks in the name of tens of thousands of
professional performers working in live performance, movies, new
media or radio.
EuroFIA
condemns the decision from Generalitat Valenciana, the federation of
Valencia government institutions, to shut down RTVV and demands it to
assume its responsibility for its society's cultural diversity
The
creation of RTVV was welcomed as a unequivocal support to the
development of Valencia's own culture, the fostering of the
Valentians and the participation of all citizens in the society's
political, economical, cultural and social life.
RTVV
belongs to the Valentian people and not to its politicians. For all
the reasons above, EuroFIA urges these to defend its patrimony and
find a consensual solution with the rest of the Valentian society.
